The Infrastructure and Hydraulics Department operates on autonomous projects as well as in tight cooperation with the other Ai Departments.
A relevant experience was developed in the infrastructure (road system networks, drainage and sewerage, water supply, fire-fighting networks facilities projects, public lighting and power distribution), for new residential areas or urban reorganization master plans, for new industrial and commercial areas or specific destination (malls, freight terminals, etc.).
With reference to sewerage, drainage and water supply systems, the sewage network and the water supply system of the City of Valona (European Union Phare Program Albania), the reconstruction and strengthening of the complete urban sewage network of Scafati (Naples) and the drainage wastewater network of Ischia Island can be mentioned. In river engineering projects and hydrogeology studies the department operates with the support of mathematical models (one, two or three dimensions). In this field a recent international experience was the development of the detailed design works for regarding the flood and storm water control in the municipality of La Paz, Bolivia (on behalf of BID Inter- American Development Bank).
In Italy the most important projects have been developed in cooperation with the Po River Authority (Po, Tanaro, Bormida, Chisone rivers, etc.). The activities are strictly related with river engineering and flood control, hydrogeological interventions adopting bioengineering techniques along mountain slopes, assessment and environmental recovery of river banks and flood areas.
The Department also works in special plants design and works supervision, such as wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), remote heating networks, artificial snow-making systems with connected reservoirs and anti-avalanche systems.
