Wind engineering

Ingegneria vento striscia

The action of the wind has a significant importance in structures design. Proper design of wind-resistant structures action is organized According to the rings of the so-called chain of Davenport who introduced the concept. The collapse of an entire structure or part of it is due to failure to follow the various planning stages (rings) of the chain. Therefore, a structure is much more resistant to the action of the wind as the most reliable are the various rings, each of which involves random parameters that are to be placed according to statistical methods. The projects faced (chimneys, skyscrapers, cable-stayed pedestrian bridges) have allowed us to investigate in detail the various rings of the chain and to interact directly with problems related to interpretation of data obtained from the analysis in “wind tunnel”.
