As part of the Pescara Aqueduct – Route Variant and Safety Upgrading of the Section between Capodacqua di Arquata and the Arquata del Tronto Node, Ai is providing Construction Management and Health and Safety Coordination during the Execution Phase.
A key milestone has now been achieved with the start of excavation works for the Grisciano Tunnel. The tunnel will be approximately 4 km long, with a diameter of about 4.5 m, and will accommodate a DN900 steel pipeline.
On 14 January 2026, following the completion of TBM assembly and functional testing, the tunnel boring machine named “Margherita” will be commissioned. In the weeks leading up to this milestone, the contractor positioned the TBM cutterhead close to the excavation face, paving the way for the start of tunnelling operations.
